Vengeance

Vengeance may not be
settling scores like gold coins
totaling a specific amount.

Power mechanisms of government,
slicing into bits of skin and bleeding
the blood from the hearts of victims
until dried like prunes under
a dying tree.

Government of the people,
wielding Lady Justice upon
the flesh of designated enemies.

In these times,
she is truly blind.
