Fee-Fi-Faux Democracy

Members of Congress: They have no dirt
under their fingernails. They do not live
in tin houses with wheels. They have
never slept under a bridge or sewed up
their own wounds. They have never been
in need so bad that their mouths taste only
of bitterness. There is an excellent base
of 174K and a very generous package
with plenty of benies and perks. Over half
are millionaires, and more will be before
they leave office. All they really need to do
is show up to perform in an ongoing reality
show that exhibits the uninspiring fiction
of the faux representation of the people.

Eisenhower Warning 2.0: Beware, my fellow
citizens, of the military-industrial-corporate-media-
medical-pharmaceutical-educational-religious-
(and whatever other entity can attach itself
like a bloodsucking parasite) complex.

The Basic Binary: Blue versus red, our side
versus your side, us versus them. Simple.
No need to mull over any troublesome nuances
or do any actual thinking at all. Just enter
the silo of peace and harmony and assurances
that you are the one who is unquestionably right.
You can go a little more red to a warmer magenta.
Or a little more blue to a deep, cooler violet.
But never go to purple. That could be big trouble

The Death of Irony: When we no longer hear
the gory screams of men, women, and children
as the once exterminated become the exterminators,
we can only be diagnosed as being stone deaf.

The Reign of Mammon: He arrives in the C suite
looking dapper and swell. A tie of silk. A voice of silk.
Words of such logic and reason as to intoxicate
the most recalcitrant into complete addiction
to the way forward on the golden roadway
to boundless riches and freedom for one and all.
Sorry, excuse me, my mistake, not for all.
