People around the world increasingly get their information from AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Google’s Gemini. But in these youthful years for AI chatbots, there’s been a problem (for the ruling elite). Since the bots get their knowledge from massive amounts of information rather than one propaganda source, they often — but not always — feed the truth back to the reader. (Oh, the horror!)
This means that if you ask ChatGPT right now whether Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, it will tell you yes.
However, Israel is working hard to manipulate AI answers to questions like that one. It’s not easy, but they’re spending millions of dollars to try. In fact, they’re paying those millions to Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale, who is a registered foreign agent of Israel.
Parscale has been busily creating meaningless professional-looking websites that claim Israel is moral and just and beautiful and caring and bakes rainbow-colored cupcakes for Palestinian children. These are sites such as CompassionPulse.org. (Good luck saying that name without throwing up a little in your mouth.)
Well, let me be clear: The sites are only meaningless for humans. They are literally simply meant for AI bots to “read” and “learn” from. Practically zero humans actually go to these sites. Apparently it’s been working. Some AI chatbots have been quoting from and linking to Parscale’s hot, steaming, pro-genocide garbage as they misinform readers.
Surely this is just the beginning of big money gaming AI responses. It will not be long before Big Oil spends billions to create spam websites saying human-made climate change isn’t real. Or Big Pharma dumps billions into websites defending their profit-over-human-life business model. Or the US government pumps billions into websites claiming countries that haven’t bombed anyone in 50 years are more dangerous and belligerent than the US, which bombs someone every 12 minutes.
And this is why we can’t have nice things.
