Now in 2026 the present Israeli ambassador, Hillel Newman, has refused to apologize for the IDF murder of Australian Zomi Frankcom and her 6 aid worker colleagues in Gaza, has blatantly interfered in Australian internal affairs, and according to eminent Australian human rights lawyer, Chris Sidoti, should be expelled.4Jake Evans, “Israel-Australia relationship in ‘difficult’ territory after IDF decision on Zomi Frankcom killing, Wong says,” ABC News, 20 August 2026.
Newman also blatantly lied by declaring that “Israel is a robust democracy.”5Hillel Newman on “Israel’s robust democracy,” X, 22 July 2026 (and repeated on a 20 August 2026 media interview). It isn’t – 8 Nobel Laureates, about half of them Jewish, numerous outstanding anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish intellectuals, and leading human rights organizations have condemned genocidal Zionist Israeli racism and Apartheid.6Gideon Polya, “12 August 2026. The Occupied Palestinian Subjects of Apartheid Israel are denied human rights and cannot vote for the government ruling them.
