Protect Palestinian Farmers from Israeli Violence

‘Ecocide’ refers to severe, widespread, and long-term environmental destruction that undermines the ability of inhabitants to enjoy and sustain life.

– Mazin Qumsiyeh, “Ecocide and resistance in Palestine,” The Ecologist

Israeli colonial violence is engineering the collapse of Palestinian food systems and agricultural livelihoods in Gaza and the West Bank. Visualizing Palestine partnered with Growing Palestine to create a two-part series of visuals for their campaign “Food is Life: Protect Palestinian Farmers from Israeli Violence.”

Gaza

In Palestine, environmental degradation is not incidental—it is intentional, protracted, and aimed at breaking the eco-sumud (ecological steadfastness) of the Palestinian people.”

In Engineering Ecocide, we trace the Ongoing Nakba through the eyes of generations of Palestinian farmers in Gaza. Amid Israel’s ongoing genocide and ecocide, food sovereignty, self-determination, and justice must guide efforts to restore Gaza’s land, soil, water, food system, and environment.

West Bank

What is happening right now is [the] erasure of humans, trees and stones, and anything that is Palestinian, by settlers under the support of the military.

– Muntasir al-Maliki, resident of Kufr Malik, quoted in “Erasing anything Palestinian,” Amnesty International

In Sowing Terror in Palestine’s Harvest, we look at one year of Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank and its impact on Palestinian farmers and herders who are being forcibly displaced in record numbers. In 2025, the year covered by this visual, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed, “there will be no Palestinian state. This place belongs to us,” demonstrating Israel’s explicit intent to ethnically cleanse and annex the West Bank.
