Outvoted Once Again
by Ananya S. Guha / May 10th, 2026
They
are now in
A nowhere land
The poor, the dusty
Sitting amidst rubble
As election results blare
Animatedly about wins
Or losses
But who will vote for them
The knock kneed poor
The ones whose homes
Are peripatetic
And whose living
Is broken into
Decrepit heaps of mud
Whose food does not matter
As the wind steals it
And the storm destroys
Their habitat in a burst
Of angry flames
They will outdo time
As they proliferate into
Thousands of importunate
People
The election results blare
In the midst of tumult
And these forsaken souls
They will be outvoted once again
