Beatitudes Moderne
by Bruce Morton / May 10th, 2026
First and foremost,
Blesséd are the blesséd
For they shall inherit
Theirs and yours. They hold
The high ground, the mount,
And the advantage is theirs.
The poor have nothing
To complain about. They are
Blessed, too. So says the book.
They have no need to fight
For their piece, for the rich
Are the piecemakers who take
For granted they chart and eat
The pie. Bless their sweet hearts.
