When the young took to ideas
It isn’t late it has just begun
They took to roads
Knowing it was just beginning
That is how beginnings arrive
Among overcast skies and wielding
Sticks,
When the young took to ideas
It isn’t late it has just begun
The younger ones have learnt
Alphabets it has just begun
They smiled fatuously
Young ones will be young ones
They nodded smiled at each other
And agreed it has just begun
Children will be children
They agreed they are still learning
Brick by brick
When the young take to ideas
It isn’t late it has just begun
And the man who fasted taught
Them the alphabets and numeracy
Addition and subtraction I
And gradually multiplication
When the young take to prophecy
It isn’t late it has just begun
Now They are no longer smiling
Only resigning
To their fate
The young will be perennially young
They murmur
Then whine
When the young take to prophecy
They gambol with shadows
It is late it has only begun
Teach them
Arithmetic
Algebra
Geometry
Their swift calculations
Will prove that they are mere beginners
When the young take to the streets
It isn’t late it has just begun
