We look to our Saviour to save us
But we look northward too
So say the immigrants coming to us
To find the American Dream and to learn the American worldview
ICE’s recent actions seem to many so superfluous
Immigrant men and women in detention and their deaths continue to accrue
In Trump’s second term, fifty-six in all have died in ICE custody
Including in New Jersey, a forty-one-year-old Salvadoran man
Deprived of diabetic and blood pressure medication at an immigration facility
Where overall the mendacity continues about immigrant care
While US Immigration and Customs Enforcement treat people like nobody
Such as a Mexican man transported to Georgia with leukemia in an unmarked van
Another tragic death, another ICE facility
What are we dealing with here but devil’s snares
The death counts mount day by day and week to week
But to what end?
Still ICE operates in obfuscation and as such our future seems bleak
How many more will they apprehend?
What happened to our constitutional laws and sound policies?
And why are we allowing our government to commit all of these atrocities?
All of us must struggle against this without being admonished as treasonous
And return us to the nation we love, the forever—red, white, and blue
