Awaken, Brothers

The great despair has not yet ceased in this final reckoning,
Blood still cries out, though years have passed, a constant beckoning.
The oppressor rests not, continuing to crush every healthy plot,
As if it were a divine mission to bring a dark and impure lot.
Fields are burning, weeds among us multiply and grow,
Who will protect us, simple citizens, from the criminals’ blow?

Awaken, brothers, awaken, take to the streets, raise a mighty cry,
This is the call of the hour, our fragile democracy is about to die.
All we’ve built here stands to be destroyed in the name of hatred high.
