The Chains of Freedom

“We The People” states clearly that all citizens are free!
Yet beware of the political chains binding you and me
Those in power desire to constrain our every thought
But our freedom was earned in battles earlier fought!

“We The People” guarantees liberty and justice for all!
However Lady Justice dropped her scales at City Hall
Her blindfold now clouds what’s false from what’s true
Now liberty’s irrelevant, it’s reserved for a chosen few!

“We The People” should protect every adult and child!
But we’ve allowed its fundamental intent to be defiled
By those whose hearts are filled with avarice and lust
Our nation reeks of decay, her foundation rots in rust!

“We The People” ought to defend the poor and needy!
But we relinquish control to the covetous and greedy
They deliver detrimental edicts which defy all reason
These leaders are blatantly guilty of outright treason!

“We The People” now reclaim authority in our land!!
It’s a sacred God-given right, wholly ours to demand
We can no longer complain, then run away and hide
Let’s all cast the chains that bind our freedom aside!
