dear reader

dear reader
brother and weapon
aid me
I who have been marked
babylon the gates of god
open in dreams

the demons told me I should show them to you
but I knew I shouldn’t
as I left one of their temples
he said I was wise
as I stepped over the insects on the floor

dear reader
weapon of the gods
heal me
I who am only the token of your awareness
wrought into metal for your pleasure
as they engorge themselves on blood
take out your knives

train with me
I who am only the vessel for your water
standing over the river

let the sound of the great night
curl under your toes
as you bathe your body in chalk
be my letters
raise your arms and legs against the sky
like doors

all who walk here are holy
divine hunters
lead them down into the temple
to the demon in his nest
to remove his mark

dear reader
weapon of god
make for me your apse over the abyss
your chalked legs stretching up against the stone
guardian spirits
heal me who rest inside your bow
watching the leaves curl against your faces
