Wars Don’t End; Peace Does

With war a civilisation ends
Children bleed
Women torn apart
And men lead wars
Wars don’t happen
They plan, they hunt for victims
Wars don’t end, they begin
An onslaught against blue skies
The peace around streams
And rivulets
Wars go on, peace doesn’t
Peace ends in disaster
In its name wars are fought
Wars are taught
To endure
While peace remains catastrophic
In Palestine, Ukraine or Iran
In skies with streaks of red
War creates poets dreamers of peace
Dreamers of love, Rupert Brooke and company, but now there is no trench warfare
War can be planned sitting hundreds of miles
In well furnished rooms, measuring precision
Of missiles

Thank god soldiers are spared of some trouble
Only guarding borders, tossing peace in the air, waiting for truce to appear
