Letter on the Skies

What is a prophylactic
For sadness?
Sadness on leaving
This town or at the thought
That one day I must leave
With the hills in sorrowful
Shame
But where is my sadness?
Have I strewn it among
The hills and rains?
The azure skies, the green
Surroundings which are now
Showing signs of fading away
Into dim worlds of ‘progress’?

I must catch my hill town
For a conversation before I
Leave and pin a letter on the skies
“Bye, With much love”
