Seek Truth

If we make time to objectively observe the human condition
We perceive that our principles have deteriorated by attrition
Even heads of church and state are acutely guilty of sedition
Yet amidst overwhelming evidence, remain above suspicion

It seems we’ve all but forgotten how to be a decent neighbor
Human value is linked to wealth not the integrity of our labor
Wanting a little kindness and respect is like asking for a favor
Our whole world is lacking love, the quintessential life-saver

By cunning design, our society has failed to properly educate
And so complete morons and slackers are allowed to procreate
Their progeny run the government as we indolently cooperate
This steady rise of mediocrity serves only to further aggravate

Our complacency has horribly rendered us morally apathetic
We’ve become so cynical that all emotions are now synthetic
Compassion is amputated, we wear cruelty as our prosthetic
This is no surprise, early dire warnings now sound prophetic

But what can reasonably be done, is there a viable solution?
Is there any real hope of reviving our national constitution?
Can wielders of injustice be dispelled short of a revolution?
Will anything besides actual peace be a lasting substitution?

We must first learn to seek truth for a change to be achieved
Any other attitude or approach would truly be ill-conceived
We must expose the myriad of lies we unwittingly believed
Only then can the blessings of peace we desire be received
