People’s Servant

https://soundcloud.com/fifty-years-on-project/peoples-servant

As I watch and listen to the daily news
I often lose my temper and blow a fuse
People get assaulted and there’s nothing done
By thugs and lowlifes out having fun

How can you sit back and just let this exist?
I’m so fed up and yeah, I’m really pissed
You leaders aren’t willing to defend what’s right
Accept the challenge! Put up a fight!

Gangstas get away with the crimes they commit
You better do the right thing or you just need to quit

It takes a humble servant with pure intent
To put aside agenda and represent
Not for your own party or political cause
Be a man of honor who’ll enforce our laws

You should only answer to the ones you serve
Do what’s necessary – what the public deserves
Be a noble servant who will pay the price
Are you truly willing to sacrifice?

You’ve made some awful choices that you won’t admit
You better fess up or you just need to split

Why don’t you understand what our people need?
Or are you simply satisfied to watch us bleed?
This is a democracy, you ain’t no king
Just man up! Step up! And do the right thing

Your lame-ass solutions just don’t fit
The people need a servant who just gives a shit
