Growing up in America in the nineteen-sixties was an experience
The disregard for “liberty and justice” made absolutely no sense
Great schisms were formed over civil rights and inopportune war
Almost as foolish as the rift that occurred a hundred years before
Lines were drawn in the sand, one was either a hawk or a dove
Use force to spread “democracy” –or– stop war and make love
Keep all “non-whites” segregated, let them sing their own blues
I didn’t know for sure which restroom I was supposed to use
It took me years to comprehend these divisions were by design
In polarizing the populace, it’s easier to keep the masses in line
“Divide and conquer” – it’s an age-old strategy and tradition
In that way, the autocrats can suppress revolution and sedition
And here I am, I made it alive into the roaring twenty-twenties
Where I watch haplessly as our dollars are merely worth pennies
These days, the “powers that be” still separate left from right
Christian vs. Muslim, Republican vs. Democrat, Black vs. White
These dichotomies actually represent two sides of the same coin
The constituents are oblivious that at the top level, they conjoin
Military has historically been used to quash any dissident voice
However, technology and media are the modern tools of choice
Global catastrophes are devised to keep the multitudes off guard
Desert Storm, 9-11 Attacks, Corona Virus – No Holds Barred
Sadly, it seems nothing can overcome this international guild
Those who defy it or attempt to expose it are censored or killed
Rebuking tyranny in opposition to popular view merits duress
That’s one example how fascism crept into the fiber of the U.S.
No doubt, control has shifted into the hands of a small hierarchy
And our sacred democracy has now evolved into an oligarchy
It’s time to say “Goodbye” to our precious Democratic Republic
The plot has succeeded in dumbing down and stifling the public
“We the People” are kept on edge and deterred from uniting at all
Welcome the new Fascist Oligarchy, see the writing on the wall
