What Happened to Dissident Voice?

My day began, as usual, by checking out the Dissident Voice website. But lo and behold, the website was suspended. Egads!

After checking with the hosting site for DV, I was about to be hit by a double whammy.

DV was entrapped by two catch-22s. The hosting service required payment for hosting. I had not been informed because the email requesting payment was sent to the previous editor Angie who had passed away on 2 January 2025. The payment was not a problem, as DV had accumulated a enough money from donations to pay server costs and hire the occasional tech person to help out when needed.

However, the log in for the service host (user name and password) was with Angie. I explained this situation to the hosting service, but the host insisted that I log in with a deceased person’s log in info. I provided proof of her passing, proof that I was a co-editor at the DV newsletter, but that didn’t faze the hosting service’s staff. Short of holding a seance, I was in a quandary to find out Angie’s login info.

A migration to a new hosting site was required.

Then the second Catch 22 cropped up. Moving to a new hosting site required logging in to the website where DV’s domain name was registered. The domain name was paid up for the next year, but the log in information for the domain name had also passed to the after life. [Lesson learned: a person should always leave essential login information for a website with at least one other person.]

Consequently, the Dissident Voice newsletter has a new URL: www.thedissidentvoice.org.

There may be a few kinks to iron out along the way, but for the readers, writers, and others DV is now up and publishing again. Aswell, the archives are accessible.

DV, an independent newsletter devoted to peace and social justice, a newsletter that opposes imperialism, colonialism, the US wars of aggression on sovereign nations, the US-Israeli genocide of Palestine, the US-Israeli war on Iran and Lebanon, the murderous assault on Venezuela to kidnap its president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, the economic strangulation of Cuba, and all other injustices that need to be eradicated from a just world.

The DV newsletter supports the inalienable right to resist occupation, oppression, and aggression; forging peaceful relationships among the world’s peoples regardless of ethnicity, gender, creed; as such DV recognizes and is in accord with Vulcan philosophy: infinite diversity infinite combinations.

The DV newsletter looks forward to continue publishing articles, poems, and videos of a better future for all peoples of the planet Earth.

  • A shout out to Bhajan, a technical expert from Upwork, who carefully handled the migration of DV to a new hosting platform and secured a new domain name.
