Gangsterdom: Here, there and everywhere

Gangsterdom here, there and everywhere
Kidnapping the Venezuelan leader to steal its oil
Invading US cities, martial law for the black and brown
and death to those who get in the way
Threatening four countries at once with invasion,
and a fifth after protests arise
The adults in the room have long vanished

Gangsterdom here, there and everywhere
It is the new norm. We go about our lives,
our work, seeing family and friends,
under the shadow of a swelling fascist authoritarianism
with a penchant for unchecked brutality
against US residents

Gangsterdom here, there and everywhere
If this lunatic goes through with the
invasion threats, eventually countries will
coalesce and militarily oppose, as they did
against Japanese and Nazi Germany’s expansion.
How does the mainstream media act like any of this
is normal? Do they recall their reaction to Trump I,
which was nothing compared with today’s tyrannical wrath?
Then their opposition had a lot more backbone.
Perhaps because only the whiff of authoritarianism allows
more space to resist and oppose. Whereas today, true authoritarianism
fully coopts the media by installing allies at the top,
threatening license revocations and bankruptcy through lawsuits.
It has done the same with businesses and universities.
Only the people are left to resist.

Gangsterdom here, there and everywhere
While ICE murders civilians, the threat
to attack Iran for killing protesters is the most comical.
Maybe we should call on China for a US overthrow
so that protesters and residents aren’t brutalized!
We need freedom, too, after all!
